Atkins diet for epiletic seizures?

can you show me a resource that can explain in lamen terms how this diet will help an epiletic. my daughters doctor recommended this for my daughter as a last resort to save her life.her seizures have not been able to be controlled by medicines..also i need to know how complex is this diet.
