Parents would you allow your kids to address you by your first name?
You aren't too old fashioned. That is the way I was raised too and I just turned 21. Most parents now days aren't actually being parents. They are more of a live in crossing guard, instead of the police they should be. They have let their children become disrespectful on a number of matters. Now that being said it depends on how old the child is. I remember when I was around five or six that I used to call my mom by her name because my dad did it. Anyway I remember getting in trouble for that one. And my grandfather was the one who actually figured out why I called her by her name. If its a younger kid maybe they just don't know any better. If its a preteen or older they need to be reminded that its disrespectful.
