"No, Gov Palin, those are not the rules of the debate." Should this have been said by the moderator?

As I understand, Gwen was probably afraid. There had been hot topic talks about a book that she has recently written (it has not been released). People were saying that she would be "Bias" because her book has something to do with Obama and civil rights. If I was the moderator I would have been telling Palin to get on topic and stay on topic! And answer the question! I could not believe that she said," I may not answer the question how the moderator wants me to, but Im going answer it for the American people". It was a debate, you are supposed to answer the moderator'squestions....... I just can not describe how furious I am. Palin had a horrible debate, but because standards were lowered for her she is considered "redeemed" in the eyes of the Republicans. Who gives a shout out during a debate???? Palin did! And she told the students they were getting extra credit! I am tired of hearing her talk about the soccer mom-PTA crap. We need a leader!!!!!!!!!!!! OBAMA/BIDEN
