Yes, without doubt. From its introduction, railway companies have always been big users of Societe Alsacienne de Construction Mechaniques, Pyrotenax or similar metal clad cables. At one time early in the development of the cable because of its superior fire and heat resistance asbestos powder was used as an insulator, but it has been phased out in recent decades in favour of magnesium oxide
