Most children go through that stage of calling everyone and everything "gay". It depends on they upbringing and their surroundings. If they're in a community that portrays ity as "wrong" then they're likley to act phobic to not let anyone know who they really are. People who were brought up to respect and love anyone regardless of differences will usually be more tolerant and not be phobic because they feel safe and happy for being who they are.
